The Visual Arts has a high profile at Kingswood Primary School. Student’s artwork is showcased within our buildings and school grounds, making Art an integral part of our environment. Kingswood has also been involved in ‘Artist in Schools’ projects. One such project resulted in an impressive clay sculpture garden designed and constructed by grade 1/ 2 students. This now takes pride of place in the Junior School Ground. Each year all grade 6 students work on a special commemorative art project to present to the school. Such works have included mosaics, bollards and large paintings. These are viewed proudly by our past and present pupils. At Kingswood we have a bennial Arts Festival to celebrate and display the talents of our students in the Visual and Performing Arts. Our Visual Arts program gives Prep to Year 4 an art lesson once a week. Activities are closely linked with classroom themes and are based on skill development. Students experience painting and drawing, collage, printing, threads and textiles, construction and clay. Students in Year 5 and 6 have a fortnightly double lesson to allow them to work productively on more complex projects. We are very proud of our student’s artworks and hope that you can visit to view them first hand.
