PARENT CLUB

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Katherine Stafford and I have had the pleasure of being President of the KPS Parent Club for the past two years. Along with my wonderful support team of Di Porteous [Vice President] and Helen Cornell [Secretary] we enjoy our roles immensely.

The Parent Club meets on a monthly basis at the school and we encourage and welcome all parents to attend. For your convenience the meetings are always advertised in the school newsletter.

These meetings provide a forum for discussion on issues concerned with educational policy, stimulating interest in the school and promoting understanding of school programs. They also serve a social function by which parents keep in touch with each other and welcome new parents into the community in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

The Parent Club is not actually just a committee; it’s made up by all the Parents of our students. As a group we can do many wonderful things for our children and we have certainly proved that in the past. E.g.: trivia nights, family fun nights, fete’s, mothers’ and fathers’ day stalls, working bees, etc… These events don’t happen on their own. We, the parents, join together to make them work; and at the same time enjoy ourselves in the company of other great parents and friends.

The Parent Club is the voice of all parents/students in our school and we take pride in knowing that what we achieve is directed back to our children’s education.
